Lighting Design

Ramin Barzegar is a lighting designer whose work explores the relationship between light, architecture, history, and the urban environment. Over the course of his career, he has designed and implemented lighting projects for architectural landmarks, historic monuments, public squares, parks, streets, cultural sites, and large-scale urban environments across numerous cities. His approach goes beyond simply illuminating a structure. For Barzegar, light is an architectural material—one that can reveal form, emphasize identity, guide movement, and transform the way a place is experienced after dark. Each project begins with an understanding of the architecture and its surroundings, followed by a careful balance of artistic vision, technical performance, durability, and maintenance. From historic sites such as Persepolis and Arg-e Bam to major urban projects in Tehran, Kish Island, Kermanshah, Shiraz, and other cities, his work reflects a consistent philosophy: lighting should respect the character of a place while giving it a new presence at night. Barzegar has been involved not only in the creative design of these projects, but also in their technical development and on-site implementation—bringing the original lighting concept through to its final realization.
